OKUKUSEKU
Dear Reader, The strength of a conqueror lies in his machinations and the folly of his enemy. And that is why the mighty buffalo has always been food to the coward lion who trusts in his paws and teeth. My grandfather once told me a story when I was with him to show me the boundaries of a vast land that was leased to him for farming. I was a teenager then. I did not understand the story but I kept it in memory. It was an interesting story. The story was about a village that existed in ancient times. It was a beautiful village that was built by a people of ancient times. Women and girls in the village were beautiful, and happy all the time. Men and boys in the village were handsome and brave. The lives of the people always revolved around divinity, holiness, and unbreakable principles. The village had two forests. The first forest was bigger than the second. In the first forest were huge and tall trees, rivers, birds and many other big and small animals. The second forest was sacred. Not everyone was allowed to go into the sacred forest. There was a black river in the sacred forest. No bad person ever entered the sacred forest and came back alive. The village was situated on a land of gold, diamonds, and all the precious stones in the world. And at the south of the village, there was a big ocean. The people in the village were hard workers, only few were lazy. Some were farmers, some were palm wine tappers, and others were fishermen. The people always worshipped their creator in truth, and remembered their ancestors in a manner that was dignified. There were brave and strong warriors who fought and defended the village whenever it was attacked. Everyone in the village was blessed and happy. There was love and togetherness in the village until one night, a brave boy had a very terrifying dream . . . This story you are about to read will give you tears, smiles, and annoyance. But do not allow your emotions to take away the lessons that the story is meant to teach, because shadows are images of light! Happy reading! Nana Kwasi Anto-Hia
